For a long time, umbrellas made of paper and fabric have been traditionally crafted in some villages in northern Thailand. These handmade umbrellas are always an eye-catcher, as decoration or as a parasol.
The paper is hand-painted and thus each of these umbrellas is unique. Made largely from the natural materials of wood and paper, the umbrellas are fairly produced in small craft workshops. Decorative paper umbrellas provide little protection against rain.
