Exporsal: A fair weaving cooperative in El Salvador

The "valley of the hammocks" - this is how the area around San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, was called by the indigenous people. And it is precisely in this place that the headquarters of a production cooperative is located today, which has made the hammock perhaps the most important symbol for the craftsmanship of the Central American country: The cooperative employs more than 200 people directly, and far more than buyers and distributors of hand-woven products. The family business follows the slogan "Responsibility, for nature and people". In the traditional production of hammocks, hanging chairs and other loom products, value is placed on sustainable production, the families of the craftsmen receive targeted support, and interest-free loans are available for equipping and expanding the workshops.
